New York State Fair to sell $4 advance sale tickets online Thursday

The New York State Fair will offer a 60 percent discount off the regular price of admission tickets during a special online sale Thursday.

The "Halfway to the Great New York State Fair" promotion will begin at 6 a.m. The fair will make 10,000 $4 tickets available online.

The tickets may be used on any day of the fair.

There's a limit of four tickets per person. Tickets have a bar code and may be printed at home or scanned from a smartphone.

"Buying a discount ticket to the fair is a great way to chase away thoughts of another cold and dark winter day," Acting State Fair Director Troy Waffner said. "There won't be another chance to get a ticket at this price this year to enjoy the summer's best food, carousel rides sell to South Africa, music and the best of New York agriculture."

During the holiday shopping season, the fair had a Cyber Monday sale. The fair sold 20,000 tickets at $3 each. The tickets sold out within hours.  Click this page: http://bestonamusementequipment.com/carousel-for-sale/.

The fair will have one more promotion before launching its advance sale program in July.

Beginning at 5:55 a.m. on May 5 — Cinco de Mayo — the fair will offer 5,555 tickets for $5 each.

Other ticket promotions include:

- Advance sale tickets will be sold for $6 beginning in July. That's a 40 percent discount off the regular box office amusement rides price.

- As part of Three-Dollar Thursdays, the fair will offer $3 admission tickets on Thursday, Aug. 25 — opening day of the fair — and Thursday, Sept. 1.

- Dollar Day on Labor Day, the final day of the 12-day event, returns this year. Fair admission will be $1 at the gate.

The fair will run from Aug. 25 through Sept. 5.
